The Duck Race
The Duck Race is a wonderful family oriented FREE event to make use of and celebrate the beautiful River Teise that runs through the village.
This is an inclusive event with options to sponsor a numbered duck (or two!) and be in with a chance of winning a cash prize if your Duck crosses the line in the top 3 places! Cash prizes are awarded for 1st £100, 2nd £50, 3rd £25. In addition 5 random ducks will be pulled from the River Teise and 5 lucky winners will be given a £10 runner-up cash prize. All profits are donated to a charity of choice and/or maybe used to top up funds for the Lamberhurst Bonfire Society to ensure our annual Bonfire and Fireworks Display meet their fundraising target. The duration of the event really depends on the flow of the river on the day. In previous years it has taken between 1-21/2 hours - a perfect excuse to witness 'the ducks launch' (on the weir on Millpond field aka 'the sheep field' located via the access road to the left of the old 'Hovis' bakery or at the end of Brewer Street) followed by watching the ducks swim across the finish line at The Chequers beer garden; enjoyed perhaps with a spot of lunch and a pint (or two!). The event is usually held on the 1st or 2nd Saturday of July If you would like to help marshall the event please contact the Lamberhurst Bonfire Society who also run this event. To enquiry about this year's event or to offer your help to co-ordinate the event please contact Dawn Beeby. |
