Community Liaison Officer - PSE Laura Horn
Kent Police: 01622 690690
PC Latter, is your local Beat Officer for Lamberhurst and the surrounding villages. She is passionate about rural policing and value the opportunity to meet members of the community, whether at the drop‑in sessions I hold or at upcoming community events. She would like to encourage you to come along, introduce yourself, and raise any concerns you may have. With 18 years’ experience as a police officer, she is here to support the community and provide assistance wherever possible.
My Community Voice is an excellent way to stay informed about policing activity in your area and to communicate directly with your local officer. I would encourage residents to sign up. Further information, along with my contact details, can be found on the Kent Police website.

My Community Voice is a messaging service that helps Kent and Medway residents, businesses, and community groups to keep in touch with their local policing teams. The service sends updates about your local area directly from the police officers themselves.
My Community Voice is more than just a messaging service; it allows you to reply to the alerts we send you, share information and tell us about the issues affecting you.
We are committed to engaging with communities to increase trust and confidence and to help protect people from harm. Police, partners and the public working together can build resilient and safe communities, and both reduce and prevent crime.
You will be able to play an active part in police appeals as well as keeping updated in what is happening in your local area.

Best Practice Advice
- Keep doors and windows locked when your home and outbuildings are unoccupied
- Use light timers to deter burglars
- DO NOT LEAVE KEYS TO A VEHICLE JUST INSIDE THE DOOR IN EASY REACH AND ACCESS TO CRIMINALS
- Consider installing gravel driveways, outside sensor lighting, CCTV, alarms, and planting such as Pyracantha, which is fast growing and can provide ideal hedging.
- Ensure that heating oil tanks are not obviously visible and keep them secure with a padlock. Disguise tanks with fencing or hedgerow.
- Do not leave any valuables such as hand bags or IT technology in vehicles particularly when visiting isolated car parks. Do not leave tools overnight in vans and try to park them so that the doors aren’t easily accessible.
- Remain vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious report it to Police immediately.
- Be prepared. Mark your valuables with a UV pen and register them with www.immobilise.com

Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the country, but it tends to go unreported. It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices and damage local communities.
It can be hard to know whether something is a crime and whether to contact the police or another charity or organisation.
