WE need YOUR views on our LOOs !
Since 2010 the cost of the Public Toilets in the Chequers Car Park have been paid directly by the residents of Lamberhurst through their Council Tax. In recent times they have to close several times due to repair and professional advice suggests this is not sustainable and a refurbishment is required….if they remain at all.
The maintenance of the Public Toilets currently costs ~£8000 per annum which is equivalent to over £10 per household pa.
What shall we do?
Do you wish for the parish to continue providing toilets for public use? As part of a refurbishment, are you happy to continue paying for a separate Ladies and a Gents loo or would you prefer to significant lower the refurbish costs and lower the ongoing maintenance costs by consolidating one of the loos into a gender-neutral facility?
Should you prefer to opt for a single `gender neutral` facility it is proposed to make the external door lockable, meaning there would be no waiting area inside the internal room, and it is proposed that CCTV and security lighting should be installed on the outside and on the inside of the room in a discreet location for public safety. The running costs of a `new` facility are expected to cost £XXX?
The refurbishment to provide 2 separate sex loos is
expected to cost ~£XXX.
The refurbishment to consolidate to a unisex loos is expected to cost ~£XXX.
Alternatively you may see no value in providing public conveniences at all and therefore would prefer to save the cost and shut the facility permanently.
